Thank you wolf for your reply but after trying the suddgested code everything was correct appart from the website_frame.png it underlayed underneathe the swf but had a tiled effect across all the white space in the window... how can i remove that tiling so there is only one image and it is center to the swf. Many thanks for your help tho..

...try to give the table data the dimensions of your image -

<td align="center" valign="middle" width="xxxx" height="xxxx" background="website_frame.png">

Ive done this as recommeneded but it has made no difference: the Frame in the background still remains tiled. :(
I am working within Dream weaver CS5 if that helps at all?

...make sure that you are using the correct dimensions of the image, the one you are posted here is 1024x808 and not 1024x768 - what you used in your table data.

i do appoligise Wolf the example was i showed you was a rough screen grab i took in photoshop..i have ensured that the real image i use is 1024 x 768 and i have correctly placed the dimensions in the HTML code..

I have enclosed the exact image below. this is the image i am attempting to place over my swf movie.. so in effect the image i have made will surround the SWF movie.
i know for a fact that once this is centered horizontally & vertically on the SWF. it will sit around the file like a glove.

...don't know why you have the image tiled - did you place the background pic into the <table> or <td>?
If you place it into the <td> there is no problem except I think your image is not symmetrical - looks like the empty space is not quite in center.

I believe i have placed the png within <td> Like so:-

</head>
<body bgcolor="#FFFFFF" leftmargin=0 topmargin=0 marginheight="0" marginwidth="0">
<table width="100%" height="100%" border="0" align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0">
<td width="1024" height="768" align="center" valign="middle" background="website_frame.png">
below is the rest of the code.....

Just out of curiosity.. When you view the index.html file you provided me (website_frame.zip) in your browser is the swf file and the frame png centred in the middle of the screen? because it isnt in mine it still remains tiled.. i have used the exact same code as you instructed...
im soo confused... :unsure:

Cache??? From where exactly - Windows? Dreamweaver - Ive never done that before.
After doing so i will ensure the code is as we have disscussed and see if the results differ

when you view the index.html does the frame png & swf movie appear in the centre of your screen - as i want them to be or do you also see the tiling effect???

...browser - HTML docs will always open in a browser - and as you see in the HTML I posted here, it appears in the center.

My query was that although the swf file is appering in the center as it should. the png frame, is tiled behind it.
Throughout the white backgrund of the page.. this is what i want to rectify -
i want:
1 single image behind the swf in the centre
when i open your example. the background image is also tiled just like my attempt. which is incorrect. this is what i want to rectify.

can you confirm that when YOU view the file you provided me, as an example (above) there is only 1 picture frame in your browser, set behind the swf file in the centre of the screen?

if you can.

then what appears in your browser - what browser do you use? i am currently using Firefox 11 & i will attempt to clear the cache like you suddgested to see if that makes any difference

thank you for your help

Thanks for your help.

...well, the sample I've posted here displays correctly in my FF(3.6.28) and IE 8 - the png in the center and the swf in the middle - e.g...

...just an afterthought - what resolution are you using? - I'm using1024x768 - Try to change the table dimensions from 100% to the actual size of the png, like this:

<html>
<body>
<center>
<table width=1024 height=768 border=0>
<td align=center valign=middle background=website_frame.png>
<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"
  codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,79,0"
  id="main" width="800" height="550">
  <param name="movie" value="main.swf">
  <param name="bgcolor" value="#A4A093">
  <param name="quality" value="high">
  <param name="allowscriptaccess" value="samedomain">
  <embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash"
   pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"
   width="800" height="550"
   name="main" src="main.swf"
   bgcolor="#A4A093" quality="high"
   swLiveConnect="true" allowScriptAccess="samedomain"
  ></embed>
</object>
</td>
</table>
</center>
</body>
</html>
