Hi Everyone.
All I want to do in manipulate text and pictures for banner on my site but I'm really struggling as there are very few basic newbie guides....
1. How do I ally effects to text boxes, eg zoom or fade, then followed by another text box?
2. How do I get text to follow a motion path, ie, all the letters flow along, say a wavy line, following one another.
Thanks in advance,
Martin

How about this simple solution.
1 - place your text
2 - Select and Break | Break Into Shapes
3 - draw your curve (pen tool will do)
4 - Select the end letter (i.e. whichever is first to move) and your curve shape
5 - r-click Convert | Convert Last Selected Shape to Motion path
6 - in timeline select the motion path effect created for the single letter and copy/paste it into the timeline for each of the other letter shapse BUT OFFSET THE START BY A FEW FRAMES.
Preview, adjust and fiddle.
Does this do what you want?
See my 10sec demo attached.

move_stars.swf 1.51K

move_stars.swi 27.69K

Hi,
I know it's too late, but I'd like to add an update to what previously mentioned.
what i mean is, I will use the motion path and dynamically change the letters/shapes that follow it.
Currently I'm so busy to add some descriptions,
there are two attachments: one of them uses a text and the other uses shapes.
the frame (5) on the mcLetters timeline controls the delays between two letters, (you can change that frame number considering that the frame number * letters count must be <= the motion effect frame length, otherwise the effect will be overlapped.
text example
letter.swi 6.12K
69 downloads
shapes example
letter2.swi 33.65K
55 downloads
