This pre-release includes development which passes EMF and image versions of selected shape objects to the clipboard.

With the release of SWiSH Max3 we introduced the advanced copy/paste facilities which will let you get EMF clipboard items in or out. See ‘Paste Special’ in your help manual.

SWiSH Max3 has great vector drawing tools and sometimes it would be useful to be able to export a vector shape to another application. To make use of the EMF clipboard select a vector shape (or group of shapes), copy and paste to any application which can recognize the EMF information in the clipboard. Compatible applications include: Corel Draw, Illustrator, Photoshop. In other application the vector information can’t be imported so a bitmap images will be pasted instead, this includes: Fireworks, GIMP.

If you use other application please report what happens, and any special steps, so we can accumulate a compatibility list.

To get a vector object to an application which don’t recognize the paste operation you can use an intermediate program. If you don’t have the money to buy one of the applications listed above you can use a simple freeware tool (e.g. http://frazmitic.free.fr/emfexplorer/ ). E.g. paste from Max3 to EMFExplorer, select File | Save page as … to an WMF file then open this in GIMP, Inkscape and others.

Note this feature is still being developed and this build doesn't support gradient fills and image fill in your shapes.

We'd appreciate your feedback, thanks!
