Hi everyone!!
Can someone please help ?

I'm trying to create a planetary moon orbit (see attached file) using the pre-defined "orbit" effect.
I have the "Earth" planet" loaded in the center and Im trying to get the smaller "moon" (using the swish logo as an example) to orbit around it, in as "realistic" a manner as possible;
The pre-defined original orbit effect is great all by itself, except that it loops above/ below the center object, rather than "around it" in a more realistic circle/ orbit; All I did was modify the height and width of the effect;
The problem is I want the "moon" to fade out just as it reaches the outer left edge of the center "planet" and fade back in right at the edge of the right side, thereby creating the illusion that it is circling in front AND behind the center planet..
I've tried using fades, multiple, layered sprites with complex fades, stops and all sorts of things, but I just can't get a smooth, continuous orbiting effect (using a looping sprite) and I can't figure out how to "author" or modify the pre-defined effect..

Is this even possible to do ??

Thank You!
I really appreciate any help!!
Rick

That's an awesome example !!
;)
Thank you for sharing it!
I reviewed the math script, but it's going to take me a while to dissect and try to figure it out..

Part 2 of this project involves using text instead of images/objects..
The idea being to create a smooth flowing, even string of text that loops the planet continuously, kind of like what used to appear as the "Daily Planet" animation in the Superman TV series, or similar to what Im sure most of you have seen in other shows..

Since I really suk at math/ scripting, here's my creative way of trying to achieve that effect..
The problem being I had to reuse the same sprite several times for a few loops, but then I was forced to go with a fade in/out at the end and restart at frame 1 because otherwise I can't get it to loop continuously..
btw, if you're wondering why I set it up as individual letters it's because all in one word string ("World News") is even harder to orbit and loop without ending up with a huge time gap between the end of the sequence and the next loop..
I hope my example will be enough to convey what it is Im trying to do ..

Thanks!!
Rick

Has anyone had a chance to see if there's a solution for this ..?
Suggestions ..?

I've tried some math scripting but that didnt help either ..

Thanks

This is one technique that might help:
Using duplicate letters above (masked) and below the globe (unmasked)

That's awesome, I truly appreciate the contribution & suggestions, thanks!

However, I've got one small problem..
I have what I thought to be the latest update of SM2, build 2008-08-12..
When I try to open your file it says it was saved with SM2, build 2009-04-03 ??

I've looked for another build/update but can find one anywhere on the site..

Either you're THAT good.. or I'm THAT dumb, LOL!
Suggestion?

Thanks,
Rick

I guess it would help to read the other forums occasionally to find out about stuff like this..

I downloaded/ installed that pre-release as per the instructions, and got this..

" .. Sorry, there seems to be a problem.
If you were unable to obtain a trial key and have not previously trialed the product, please contact Support.
It is also possible that you are not entitled to a further trial for this product or the product does not support trial licenses.
You can purchase an unlimited license here.
If you have already purchased a license, enter your registered email address below, with the completed Site Code, and press 'Go!'. .."

Upon opening the prog it already indicates 'trial perioid over' ..
Using the site code to generate a key at the site comes back with the above error..
Do I have to contact 'support' for a tmp license ?
Thanks
