when i create a new static text object, the bounding box is always a default size. if i enter some text into it, which fits in less than one line, is it possible to auto resize the bounding box to fit the text (and only the text) inside it (w/o spaces on the left and the right) ?

i cant find this button. either i am inept or there has to be a very strong reason this hasnt been implemented yet.

thanks!

Not sure I understand the question fully. But my experience is this:

If you originally create your text object by selecting the text tool, then clicking and dragging on the stage, the bounding box is made to be the size you dragged to.

However, if you select the text tool, then just click (without dragging) on the stage, the bounding box is initially just a single vertical line, and will grow and shrink as you type/delete text.

(BTW, I submit that your text will never fit in less than one line ...)

i get a rectangle that is about 80% width of the stage and as high as arial 36. hence my problem.

STILL, it would be nice to have a button to resize the box, cause we often edit the text after creation.
